Description:

The session will bring together researchers from INESC-Coimbra, INESC-ID, INESC-MN, INESC INOV, and INESC-TEC, along with partners from the healthcare sector, including CHULN, ISAMB, and ULSGE. The aim of the session is to highlight the main advances in Smart Care through the emerging contributions of the INESCs at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Health Systems in a participatory and interactive session.

The session will begin with brief presentations focused on the R&D&I contributions to Smart Care developed by the various INESCs, serving as a basis to participatively identify barriers and opportunities that will help understand future innovations driven by AI in the healthcare field.

Smart Care will be addressed in four pillars:

1- Smart Monitoring and Screening: Biosensors; Federated infrastructures for pan-European health data management;

2- Smart Medical Decision: Advances in healthy aging and chronic, infectious, neurological, psychiatric, and oncological diseases; Responsible AI; Augmented reality to support medical training and practice;

3- Smart Treatment: Optimization, control, and planning of care (radiotherapy, anesthesia, rehabilitation); Robotic systems and intelligent agents for critical use and social care; Multi-omics and new molecular therapies;

4- Smart Care Management: Guidelines, attitudes, policies, and SMART action plans.

Healthcare sector partners will also participate in the session to discuss the challenges of implementations in clinical settings and the main benefits of these collaborations.
