SSL/TLS communication channels play a very important role in Internet security: it is the “S” in HTTPS. However, there are concerns about the strength of the security mechanisms used in TLS channels, as shown by attacks such as Logjam (https://weakdh.org/) and DROWN (https://drownattack.com/).

The European project SafeCloud, Secure and Resilient Cloud Architecture, aims to protect data in the cloud, securing the current services and infrastructure of cloud computing. In addition, SafeCloud also aims to assure millions of users of cloud storage services that their data is not being handled by third parties. Additionally, the project wants to further protect user information during each procedure and ensure that data is processed securely and privately.

The project is represented by the Distributed Systems Group at INESC-ID.
